David Glass
David Glass is fluent in many styles of piano music and has performed throughout his career, predominantly as a classical pianist and has received compliments from listeners that include the Prince of Nepal, Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy, and actors Bill Cosby and Robin Williams. David first took piano lessons at age eight. At age fifteen he began intensive, formal studies with James Arthur Gardner in San Francisco; and also studied jazz piano and composition with Frank Sumares at Cal State Hayward. He received his undergraduate degree in Piano Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Ma. There he was a student of Jacob Maxin and later Patricia Zandar, who has recorded and performed with cellist Yo Yo Ma. Mr. Glass did his graduate work in composition, film scoring and electronic music at San Jose State University, under Dan Wyman and Allen Strange. He has also studied with, or performed for Douglas Buys, Jean Phillipe Collard, Karl Schnable, Gabriel Chodos, Veronica Jochum and Justin Blasdale.
In 2006 David released his first piano solo CD of the rarely recorded Liszt transcription of Beethoven's 6th Symphony, "The Pastoral", which may be the American premier recording. In 2004, David collaborated with pianist Francis Martineau and released their CD "On Course. Improvised Piano For Four Hands", which was followed by a series of live concerts on the west coast of the US. David recently released his second solo CD, "Beginning the Journey", which features his own original piano compositions and improvisations and is scheduled to perform a series of concerts in 2008 to promote the new recording.
